Do breaks/gaps like this usually mean the OBD2 device (BT in this case) has become disconnected?

I never used an app like that, but generally, the first symptom I notice when my scanner is not connected well is loss of communication. The data link connector usually always powers on the tool, so if it came in plugged, I would expect that the tool would power off and data would be lost, not glitchy.

Thanks for the response!

I had a chance to read the FAQ for the app (Car Scanner ELM) and seems it could be user error (shocker!). I will play with the settings some more and report back if I can get consistent readings!

Reporting back, all signs are pointing to user error.

(From the Car Scanner ELM FAQ):

"Car Scanner records only the data that is displayed on the screen."

So I set up a new Dashboard with the data I was interested, and bam, a full dataset!
