Identifix was created by Noah
Has anyone used it for any length of time?
We have Alldata, which is good enough most of the time.
We just got a free trial of identifix, and I thought it was just repair statistics.
"80% of parts changers fixed X problem with Y part".
But it's got tons of diagrams and service info.

Please, share your experiences with both programs so we can make the right move here!
Thanks!

I have been using Identifix for about 3 years or so.

What I Like:

Mitchell wiring diagrams
Simplified testing procedures and information
has more information than Alldata
Scheduled Maintenance gives a nice printout that you can give customers.
There are more but can't think of any right now

What I don't Like

All the parts changers who don't provide any additional information on their fixes
Seems a little more difficult to find the information when your used to how Alldata has things listed.
Some of the Simplified test procedures are different than what I would actually to, I do it the "ScannerDanner" way :cheer:

I mainly use it for the wiring diagrams and to confirm my diag. when I am dealing with a system that I have never seen and to find any info that I can't find on Alldata. I would say it's a good secondary source for information as long as you take the info from others post with a grain of salt and don't relay on it solely for diagnosing. You can't have enough sources of information theses days.

I've had access to Identifix for about six years, and it's become a much more valuable service overall. They've added a TON of OE diagrams and service info over the years, which I'm starting to prefer over Mitchell diagrams, plus other niceties. Example: Finding an airbag connector on a 2014 Dodge ProMaster. Mitchell says, "Eh, it's somewhere on the passenger side of the cabin." Identifix provided me a full color drawing of the airbag harness, and pointed out the exact connector I wanted. Talk about a time saver. :cheer:

Finding the info you want can be challenging, as Ro-longo said. TSB's? Super easy, tons better than Mitchell. R+R procedure? Way too difficult to find what you want.

Underlined for emphasis. ;-)

Thanks guys!
I'm really not very interested in the reported fixes. I haven't even looked at that part of the site yet...
I'm really more interested in the depth of information available. I understand that any service is going to have strengths and weaknesses. Maybe I can talk the boss into keeping both ;)
(Doubt it, lol!)

Oh yeah, totally understand! I end up using the service info side of it more than the silver bullets these days.

I had a free trial of Sure Track from Snap On a few years back, and they showed similar reported fix data. Some guys were really putting a lot faith in it.
It really just fed into the flawed diagnostic process of changing parts based on codes.

You know, O2 sensor heater circuit code: strike one O2 sensor!
Sure Track says 88%report O2 sensor changed: Strike 2 02 sensor, call the parts store!

It still has a code? Must need a computer, we checked everything else...
