This is the best tailpipe waveform I have been able to get.
The engine is running, not cranking, like the test should be performed. When I crank only the waveform looks even worse.
I have the throttle closed. I have fuel disabled. I am not clear-flooding.
The waveform just doesnt look the way I have seen elsewhere online. Is there anything I can even see from this waveform? I dont think so...
I am using a Pressure Pulse Sensor.
Any ideas on capturing a better tailpipe waveform? How do you guys secure your pressure pulse sensor to the tailpipe?

I started out with a similar setup to yours and got horrible waveforms. This is what I ended up with. Allows the sensor to sit on the ground so it doesn't pick up vibration. And the smallish diameter tubing smooths the pressure pulses somewhat. 1/4" brake line and ~3/16" bore thinwall rubber tubing.

Ok, good stuff Matt T. Looks like you put that 1/4" brake line further into the exhaust then I did also. What sort of clamp is that your using to secure the brake line? Do you try and keep the brake line centered in the exhaust?

Heres another pic of mine from before. 2V scale. I can sort of see the characteristic "M" shapes the waveform is supposed to make, but there seems to be extra in the waveform still. I will try to implement some of your ideas.

Anybody have any comments on how I labeled the cylinders? I put #1 exhaust pulse just to the left of 360* And I am synced to #1 ignition trigger.

I tried duplicating the tailpipe adaptor and I got these. Much better!!
I see some differences in valve overlap.
Let me know what you see!

The waveform improved and now it is useable for diagnostics, well done.

You may want trying to put on the degree rulers within the pico software , using 8 of them will relate each cylinder to specific events. I like this for easy viewing and measurements compared to the overlay you applied.
