Can I get what gear I am in from the ECM via voltage readings?

Hello Sir,
I know this is a wild question but....

I have a 2003 Harley Davidson Softail Springer FXSTSI with fuel injection. I was wondering would it be possible for me to find out what gear the bike is in from the ECM, so that I could hook up a digital gear indicator on my handle bar. I am familiar with the "Arduino UNO", which in my thinking, may be the way to go for reading a voltage from the ECM and turn that voltage into a gear readout on a display.

Is this possible to read from the ECM?
