FLUKE PV350 PRESSURE TRANSDUCER was created by ian.malone
Hi all, recently purchased a fluke pv350 and trying to extend my diagnostic capabilities with in cylinder pressure testing, but i think i am doing something wrong as the signal is very noisy and cant get a good picture of whats going on in the cylinder.
i am using it with a hantek scope, have a look at the pictures i uploaded , any help is mch appreciated.
thanks, Ian

My that is a lot of of noise, a few things you could try although I have a Hantek I don't use it much and its the cheaper 1008 and the software setting options on it are limmited on it so I am very much guessing the optins available for the DSO3064. model you have so this is really generic suggestions to improve the capture.
(1) If you go into the "Aquire" menu then the "Aquisition" sub-menu make sure "Peak Detect" is not selected, try "Normal" or "Average".
(2) Another trick is to increase the time captured each screen (alter Horizontal time base setting from 20ms/dv to say 100 or 200ms/dv and then once you have captured a screen zoom in on one event.
(3) Also try rooting your cables as far as possible from sources of interference and making sure all your grounds are good.

The other thing you could try is a hardware filter --- really easy to make The other thing you could try is a hardware filter --- really easy and cheap to make just two components a capacitor and a ressistor.
I am not crazy about my Hantek 1008 but sometimes it gives surprisingly good waveforms for bargain basement hardware.. I would use it more but I hate the software on screen controls.
Where Pico really score is Picoscope software is is very very good.

Sorry to bring back an old post but I just first saw this now. Did you come up with any concrete solutions or is the pv350 just that noisy and I need to save my money for a better model? Here is a pv350 with a pico. NOISY! I'd say borderline unusable. This is WITH the filter turned on and set to kpa.

This has been my experience with the PV350 as well.
All in-cylinder captures require the filter option to be enabled, with a flexible rubber hose, as a rigid hose creates WAY more noise.
Keeping the sensor wire away from other electronics is key, too. It's not very well insulated, and tends to pick up on just about anything it can.
