For the 10mA scale: 10mA x 1000= 10.000mA or 10 A
For the 100mA scale 100mA x1000= 100.000mA or 100A
1mV/10mA = 1V/10A
1mV/100mA= 1V/100A (your clamp has a max input of 60amps)
1 mV/10 mA (100 mV = 1 A)
—> use this for testing currents up to 20 A.
1 mV/100 mA (10 mV = 1 A)
—> use this for testing current up to 60 A.
Make sense?
So you'll need to use a high amp clamp to measure starter current...

For comparison, here's a waveform I took off a 2.4L Honda with a failing starter. Yellow is battery voltage, green is starter current.

I use that same style of clamp for relative compression stuff all the time
Oh yeah definitely! Me too. I also tried to AC Couple cause I saw the guy from realfixesrealfast doing this

When set on 10mv/1A, it is accurate on the Verus low amps 60 setting.
I like to write stuff like that right on the tool, my Verus has similar notes on it...

We know the source voltage is 9v, it's probably stepped down to a slightly lower voltage so as to not so severely impact measurements as battery life decays. So if the "magic box" was fed a regulated 6v, close to 6v would probably be the clamps maximum output.
So, 600ish amps??
Again, that's all just B.S.
I can try it on my Caterpillar

Seems that the Snap on low amp flatlines around 250A

Yeah, that's all I could get out of my Innova on the starter of the Cat front end loader. So much for my hypothesis!
I do want to put it on a wire and directly short that wire across a battery. That should max her out...

Guys, just use a high amp clamp for measuring starter current

Nooooooooooo, that'd be to easy! We have a compulsion to misuse our tools.
