I love groups like lcd soundsystem and arcade fire.
Each Friday afternoon the radio station we listen to has a dj come in and play a 25 minute set live and it’s amazing to work to when doing something physical like a clutch job. Fastest I work all week.

What kind of music does the DJ play, electronic stuff? I like arcade fire a lot too.

I usually tell the Google Home that I have in my shop to play an "adult alternative mix" or a "classic alternative mix" & just let that roll all day. This time of year, I have a soft spot for Bluegrass Country Christmas music.

Forgive me, I'm old (50+) & I know not what I do.

Happy Holidays - arbez

Wow, how did I miss this one?

I'm a child of the 80's. Turned 44 about 8 weeks ago. In my early teens I was a fan of Slayer, Testament, Metallica, Anthrax, Suicidal Tendencies, Overkill, Nuclear Assault, a band called Rigor Mortis (LOLOL!!) and NOTHING else! Reflected my worldview to a Tee.

These days I don't listed to that stuff too much any more, although I still enjoy it from time to time ... especially when driving around MA. All the hair metal bands I used to hate in the day, I now love. Always loved Iron Maiden (my all time favorite - in the day people used to tell me I could pass for Bruce Dickinson's brother - we looked alot alike), Van Halen with DLR, Motley Crue, Twisted Sister, Quiet Riot, Dio, Krokus, Dokken, Judas Priest,Tesla, etc. etc., and these days I find myself listening to Poison, Warrant, and those type bands that I used to hate, lol.

I pretty much like anything prior to 1992 - past that my listening choices are very few and far between. I can listen to 50's rock, and anything up to '92.

And on that note ... :)

I've was pumping out this Live Exodus I found for weeks!

Gary Holt of this performance (guitar) is featured on the latest Slayer album "Repentless". RIP Jeff Hanneman

Paul Bostaf (SP?) on vocals, also passed away, was a founding member of Exodus, but left early on, and returned in 97 for this live recording

Also, you mentioned Overkill.
Everytime I hear the most bad@ss riff and think "who the F is that?!", it's always Overkill!
Their most recent 3 albums are a must have for anyone into Thrash Metal.

That's some great stuff right there! Makes me feel 18 again. :)

It's been YEARS since I've listened to Overkill - might have to do a quick Youtube search now ...

I've only gotten into Overkill in the past few years. This song was the first Overkill I every gave a chance, and I wanted to hate it, but by the end of the song, I went out and bought the CD.

I bought "The Years of Decay" back around '90 -'91 or so after hearing several of their songs played on a local heavy metal radio show, hosted by Dr. Metal (RIP - was killed in the Station nightclub fire in RI at that Great White show) on 94 HJY.

That was the best show ever - that's how I discovered Nuclear Assault, Testament, etc. etc.. Anyway, loved that album. Haven't listened to it in YEARS. I still have the cassette around here somewhere.

Almost wore that tape out playing it at full bore in my little S15 pickup - had a 400w amp and 2 high end Pioneer truck boxes behind the seat (I still have the amplifier and those speakers too!). Sounded great - felt like I was getting punched in the back at full volume. :D

Good ol' days. :)
